Sometimes we recommend our patients seek further services by Board Certified Specialists. We have the luxury of having many options in this regard including the ability to have these Specialists come to our facility so your pet does not have to be transported, while also receiving much needed continuity of care. When in-house options are not available, we have various specialty facilities we can arrange transfer to.

Whether you are traveling domestically with your best furry friend or going out of the country there’s a lot of preparation to be made for their travel—and that goes beyond getting them an airline-approved crate! Most destinations, and even different provinces, have specific requirements for animal importation.

Without a proper health certificate, your pet could be denied entry and quarantined upon your arrival.

Keep in mind that traveling to Rabies-free countries (for example: Japan, Australia, The United Kingdom) have very strict regulations and often require procedures that need to be done at least six months prior to travel.

Cats and dogs can get allergies just like we do. Yet, instead of sniffling with runny noses, they usually develop irritated, itchy skin. Allergies in dogs and cats are not only uncomfortable for them, but their excessive scratching can damage the skin barrier, opening the door for infections.

At Vancouver Downtown Pet Hospital, we are able to develop more customized treatment plans, including Allergy testing and preparing immunotherapy injections or remedies for some allergies, that help to reduce your pet’s sensitivity to the allergen over time.
